I thought that maybe a general Arne and Carlos thread would be a good idea. I was watching their latest Sit and Stitch for a Bit a couple days ago. YouTube suggested that I should watch their how to knit a bird series. I bought The Guide to Knitted Birds two years ago while on vacation in Maine. When I got home, I thought "what! Was I crazy!" I thought that the little Norwegian style patterning was knit in Fair Isle on these tiny birds. It's not. The birds are knit solid and then they are embroidered. I have knit two birds. The pink one is getting embellished with sequins and beads. It will be the topper for my tea cozy, which was the main reason I bought the book. Pictures later when the birds is finished.
Looking forward to seeing your birds. I reached those episodes recently and definitely on my list of things to try.
I will try to get a couple photos of the bird posted. I embroidered the back with sequins and beads. The front has the puffy green cellulose sequin with beads around it. I am on the home stretch on knitting the cozy.
@Sheila Sakraida Adorable!
here's the finished tea cozy.
this tea pot is an Assum tea pot. It is like a french press. There isn't a traditional spout on this one.
@Sheila Sakraida Love it!
Very pretty, the bird is larger that I thought it would be.
@Sandra Grimm The bird is a little large. I was knitting from stash. I knit the tea cozy out of a fingering weight yarn so it is smaller than the original. It is too small for my tea pot that I use every morning. This one will be for "guest" whenever I can have guest come over again.
@Sheila Sakraida Both projects are so cheerful! Thanks for sharing!
@Sheila Sakraida Love it!
I need to take some pictures. I finished three little birds for my daughter and son in law for their Christmas tree. I finished a Christmas ball also. I need to steam block the ball and stuff it. I have been knitting in the morning while I watch some YouTube stuff or Craftsy videos. Curly the anxious puppy will sleep for an hour or so at my feet in the morning while I knit.
I cast on the 2019 Christmas stocking by Arne and Carlos. I ordered Cascade 220 for the stocking. I have never knit a sock in worst weight yarn and it is going fast! I finished the toe this morning. I hope to get a couple rows of the stranded knitting in tonight, Curly dog pending!
I finished the embroidery on three birds. I am going to glue on a clove for the beak when I am glueing stuff for my grand children's advent calendar.
I think that the names of these bright birds are named after Latino painters. There is Diego and Frida.
