This Scottish-style drop spindle, called a Dealgan, is a whorl-less drop spindle used to spin or ply yarn. Spun suspended from a half-hitch, the design of this spindle allows you to create a center-pull yarn ball as you spin, much like you would on a nostepinne. This is a common historical spindle among Scottish immigrants to North America, including my own ancestors!
Made from local, sustainably harvested wood. Finished with a non-toxic linseed oil and pine resin. A true heirloom spindle.
