Haps are traditional Scottish shawls used to wrap up in. They can be used as either a shawl for adults or to swaddle babies. The word hap can also be used as a verb that means to cover or wrap with a blanket or warm clothes. E.g. my Mum happed me up. Haps are traditionally square in shape, with a center panel in a simple stitch pattern (very often lovely squishy garter stitch). Around the square center there is a lacy border, customarily the feather and fan pattern. You personalize your Hap with your choice of yarn, size, colours, lace pattern used, and finishing technique.
There is a kit available to make the largest size of this shawl using our 2-ply worsted weight here.
